VAMPIRES SUCK

This is a reposting of a previous post with added images.
It's true, I do. I love vampires. Not glittery, vegan, whining teenage vampires, but sexy, hungry, thirsty, stalking, controlling vampires. I'm a huge fan of Anne Rice's earlier works and when I found out she doesn't use an editor any more it explained her latter novels. But Interview was pitch perfect, although the homoerotic elements didn't really come out until later in the Chronicles, it had some good stuff. That's another reason I love vampires. The fluidity of the sexual elements. I think gay men can relate to vampires on many levels. The hunger and thirst for that certain something that another human can only satisfy. Look at the expression on Louis' (Brad Pitt) face. That's another reason I love vampires. The element of complete surrender to a powerful sexual force. The film version of Interview is one of my favorite's. I was very sceptical of Tom Cruise as Lestat, but after I saw the film I was won over by his raw savage energy. I loved Anne Rice's recommendation of the film. She was not happy at first with his casting, but he won her over too. Although I was disappointed when I read that he made them tone down the homoerotic qualities. Sting was my first pick. I still wish he'd done something with the genre. He was putting it out there that he wanted the role and wrote the song, Moon Over Bourbon Street.
There's a moon over Bourbon Street tonight
I see faces as they pass beneath the pale lamplight
I've no choice but to follow that call
The bright lights, the people, and the moon and all
I pray everyday to be strong
For I know what I do must be wrong
Oh you'll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet
While there's a moon over Bourbon Street
It was many years ago that I became what I am
I was trapped in this life like an innocent lamb
Now I can only show my face at noon
And you'll only see me walking by the light of the moon
The brim of my hat hides the eye of a beast
I've the face of a sinner but the hands of a priest
Oh you'll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet
While there's a moon over Bourbon Street
She walks everyday through the streets of New Orleans
She's innocent and young from a family of means
I have stood many times outside her window at night
To struggle with my instinct in the pale moon light
How could I be this way when I pray to God above
I must love what I destroy and destroy the thing I love
Oh you'll never see my shade or hear the sound of my feet
While there's a moon over Bourbon Street

Stuart Townsend was passable as Lestat, but the film of Queen of the Damned was so bad on so many levels, unfortunately. Combining the two novels was a huge mistake. but Stuart was hot as eye candy.
Here's a link to The Vampire Library and a listing of books. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear from you.
I'm not a big fan of the slasher, blood and guts vampire movies like Blade and John Carpenter's Vampires. Give me seduction and sex over the other. Here's a few of my favorite films:
Interview with the Vampire
The Hunger, Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie and Susan Sarandon. Beautiful.
Habit, a modest, intelligent study of loneliness, addiction, and urban alienation. The most believable vampire movie I have ever seen.
The Wisdom of Crocodiles, Jude Law is hot.
The Fearless Vampire Killers, Roman Polanski and his then wife, Sharon Tate.
The Lost Boys, the Outsiders of vampire flicks.
Bram Stoker's Dracula. although Keanu Reeves' English accent was horrible and Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing acting was so over the top, the cinematography and art direction were amazing. I thought Gary Oldham was very good as the Count.
Nosferatu the Vampyre, Klaus Kinski and the making of the original silent film, Nosteratu.
Dracula, Bela Lugosi and John Badham's verson with Frank Langella.
The Horror of Dracula, I saw this at the drive-in and it was my first. Scared the shit out me. Christopher Lee.
Let The Right One In, creepy little Swedish film about a always thirteen year old vampire girl who befriends a young boy and helps him with his bully problems.
The Thirst, an independent vampire flick about a couple of drug addicts who trade their addictions for blood.
The Vampire of Budapest, my favorite gay porn film of the genre. Kristen Bjorn.

Right now I'm hooked on True Blood and The Vampire Diaries and was a big fan of Ultraviolet.

Let me know your favorites.

Here's Lady Gaga's music video of Teeth. I love it!

SUPERMEN

My future ex-boyfriend, Henry Cavill looks amazing as Superman and even hotter as Clark Kent, mild mannered reporter.  I always have to say them together.  His super daddy, Jor-El will be played by chain smoking Russell Crowe.  I love the look of this new Superman film, Man of Steel.  It looks a bit more edgy and dark.  I especially like the look of the new suit.  Amy Adams will be love interest, Lois Lane and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner play Clark's earth parents.  Release date looks to be in a future far far away: 2013
