I know Rugbysex sometimes thinks I can wave my big, fat wand and magical things will happen, but that only happens in the playroom, not in the land of Google! LOL

Glad you're back so quickly! It happened to me once and yes the feeling of loss is intense...Andréhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03908137606277266953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20371616.post-27868425250586900452012-02-22T16:40:33.112-08:002012-02-22T16:40:33.112-08:00To prepare for his passion and crucifixion Christ ...To prepare for his passion and crucifixion Christ went into the wilderness to pray and fast for 40 days. While he was there he was tempted by the devil. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent or the 40 days prior to Easter and it is to commemorate that time of prayer, fasting, and self-examination to prepare us for accepting God’s will.

Personally i think the back story of the ashes is interesting. On Palm Sunday, Jesus made his triumphant entry into Jerusalem to the cries of “hosannas” while palm branches were strewn in his path. Oh Palm Sunday many churches re-enact the event by processing into the church w/ palms. Once the palms have dried, they are burned, crushed and mixed with holy water and exposed to incense. On Ash Wednesday the priest or minister imposes the ashes on the worshipper’s forehead in the sign of the cross and utters: “Remember that thou art dust, and to dust thou shalt return.” Not long after Palm Sunday, the “King of the Jews” was crucified.

We don’t give up something to please Jesus, we give up something to commemorate Christ’s 40 days of fasting in the wilderness. Whether you’re a practicing Christian or not, I think you will agree that the road from fame to infamy can indeed be short. As you said, it was precisely because MRS was taken away from you that you appreciated what it meant to you. Fasting and meditation/prayer is common to many of the world’s religions. Self-denial of earthly pleasures is only a tool to prepare oneself to listen and accede to the will of God.

I’m SO HAPPY you got MRS back. Congratulations MM! Bon chance!
Cheers!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20371616.post-33389377063609998132012-02-22T15:46:04.323-08:002012-02-22T15:46:04.323-08:00Hey, MM -
